The Cardio-vascular and Thoracic surgery team at PRS Hospital provides quality care for complex and serious conditions that affect the heart, lungs and blood vessels. We have an experienced Multi-disciplinary Heart team comprising Cardiac Surgeons, Cardiologists, Cardiac Anaesthetists, Critical care specialists and Nephrologists, who will review your condition and advise you on the most appropriate treatment strategy and timing of surgery .

In addition, the department is supported by well trained ICU nurses. Perfusionists, Respiratory therapists, Physiotherapists and Dieticians who provide dedicated 24 hour expert care, helping with a smooth post-operative recovery. The Department offers a wide range of Surgical procedures and has been producing consistently good results, comparable with international standards.

We perform, Minimally Invasive surgical procedures (key-hole surgery) and are offered for most cardiac conditions. This approach allows early recovery and avoids big scars on the chest. Major vascular emergencies like aortic dissections and aortic aneurysms are also undertaken either as open surgery, endo-vascular repair or hybrid approach.

We also run an ECMO service for heart and lung failure. Our team is well experienced with VA and VV ECMO and have a good success rate in saving critically ill patients. Mechanical circulatory support using Impella and Centrimag LVAD is also available.

The Cardiac Surgery department is functional 24 hours and has all modern facilities to undertake any emergency procedure. Cardiac surgery ICU is well equipped with Invasive cardiac monitoring, advanced ventilators, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), ECMO and VAD (ventricular assist device).
