Paediatrics

Paediatrics is one of the first departments established at PRS hospital and provides expert care for all ages from newborn to adolescents. At present, the department has 4 senior consultants and 4 Junior consultants assisted by a team of dedicated nurses and paramedical staff.

PRS hospital is also one of the esteemed National Board of Examination (NBEMS) Accredited Hospitals. We have been allotted 2 Diploma in child health (DCH) every year from 2021 and in 2023 PRS hospital has been approved for 2 DNB seats.

Every day, outpatient work begins at 9 am, and consultants are accessible for these services until 9 PM. We have one Paediatric surgical consultant who conducts regular OPD and is available 24/7 for emergency cases. On an average every month, we treat 4000-4500 children in the outpatient and about 400 - 500 children as inpatients. Inpatients are mostly admitted in a spacious well equipped general ward as well as in private rooms. The department also has a well-equipped High dependency ward that gives extra support, monitoring and care to children. The nursing care is completely satisfactory to both patients and their parents. In consultation with the appropriate super speciality experts, highly specialised care is provided for cases involving paediatric cardiology, neurology, nephrology, and gastroenterology.

Our well-baby clinic provides patient care as well as frequent medical camps and educates parents on topics like breastfeeding, immunisations, hygiene etc. which are inevitable for the healthy development of the child. Health awareness and education are provided by a qualified development therapist.

All of the other departments also fully support and assist us in case of references. Overall, the paediatrics department runs smoothly because of the unwavering support of all the staff including the doctors, nurses, paramedical workers and the management.
