Accident & Emergency Medicine

The Emergency Medicine Department of PRS Hospital, Trivandrum provides multidisciplinary critical care to patients suffering from medical emergencies and traumatic injuries. The department operates in tandem with round- the-clock ancillary subspecialty services for the swift treatment of patients in critical conditions. All the Emergency Doctors, Staffs and Paramedics are American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS trained.

PRS’s emergency medicine department regularly holds emergency drills as a part of their disaster preparedness protocols that extensively train the entire hospital staff in emergency response. This guarantees that safe, efficient, and outstanding emergency care can always be found at PRS Hospital, even in times of crisis.

The emergency department consists of two sub- departments: the adult emergency department and the pediatric emergency department. Each shift is led by emergency specialists who oversee every case that passes through their department. Their final seal of approval ensures that our patients receive the same standard of quality healthcare. Any obstetrics and gynecology-related emergency is handled directly by its specialists and practitioners. This way, the patient receives the best possible care immediately and ensures privacy.

In addition to that, this department features a friendly, lively, and vibrant environment that makes our little patients feel right at home. PRS Emergency Department has been awarded the best emergency department by Society of Emergency Medicine, India. Also the team has scored first prize in the Resuscitation Competition SIM LEAGUES in the International Conference EMCON in 2022.

Ambulance Services

We run state-of-the-art ambulances, which has an inbuilt ICU service with a transport ventilator, multipara monitoring, emergency drugs, oxygen facility, and necessary equipment. It is being managed by ACLS providers / trained paramedics.

Also We have Bike Ambulance for Emergency Medical Services Introduced first in Kerala.

Triage

The triage is an area where the patients are segregated based on the severity of the emergency and thereafter directed to appropriate areas of care. A triage is staffed by a resident in the emergency medicine along with a paramedic or staff nurse who are trained adequately.

Emergency services

At PRS Hospital, we have state-of-art ER, managed by Emergency Medicine Doctors who are capable of managing all kinds of emergencies. The services and equipment include - a well- equipped ER with ventilators, defibrillators, resuscitation cots, stat Lab, Point of Care Ultrasound, Emergency kits, ECMO and so on. The academic programs include CCTEM (SEMI), MRCEM (UK) and EMT Advanced.
